Support Earth Hour

To fellow supporters, I believe we have all done our part in voting for Earth. Here's a million "Thank You" to the organizers and supporters from all over the world.

I still can't believe that my parents actually supported this event together with me. We switched off everything except the ceiling fan and TV in the living room. And we didn't even light up a candle, or drive out, or use the water heater or air-conditioner. It's the 1st time I felt we're one in this house. Bravo!

KL city; Success? No.

However, there are a few things I would like to comment though. Though some might have switched off their lights during that period, they resort to candles as another source of light. While you might think that a few candles burning in your house/office will not make any harm. Now calculate that amount per head in Malaysia. Let's see. Massive candle burning. Huge CO2 emission. Some went out to celebrate this event by driving their cars. Let's see. Burning of gasoline. Huge CO2 emission. What's the point then, switching off your lights?

Another batch of people think that less them one will not make any significant effect to the Earth. They are wrong. You spread such thinking to your friends, relatives and neighbours. And the possibilities of them following you are higher than 50%. Now is that significant?

Of course, we can't force everyone to do the same. Since source of light might be very important to someone or some company in manufacturing and such. You can't halt the manufacturing either. But I'm glad that many had done their part for Earth. Very glad indeed.

This laptop has a slender frame and is ultra-slim. Measuring at 0.65 inch, that's almost about half the width of my Vostro 1310 business laptop. However, with the extensive use of aluminum on the body, it weight at 1.81kg, the same as my Vostro of which both are using aluminum chassis. The thing that I like about the Adamo is the keyboard; sleek and beautiful. But still, Vaio and Macbook's keyboard are much better with space between keys.

Overall it's not bad considering the size of it and the amount of things it offer. The drawback will be the price. At such price, you can get a much better, not to mention much heavier laptop. So it's just you and your sense. This is a fashion statement.

Thanks a lot to Dell, engadget and AnandTech for providing the pictures.

Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk6

It's raining heavily now, forcing me to cancel my appointment at the college library.

Anyway, here's a simple write up of the upcoming VW Golf GTI Mk6. As all of you know, the Golf GTI Mk5 did a lot of merit-able things which leaves some sort of memories deep in our heart. It's the revolution of hatchbacks, fighting to race with the bigger counterpart. Of course, there's the absurd Golf R32 Mk5 which packs huge engine in a small car (it's not really small either).

Golf GTI Mk1 and Mk6

Compared to the Mk1, the Mk6 still bear some resemblance, although limited to the red lining at the front grille. The Mk6 looks stunning in its GTI guise, well trimmed compared to the dull stock Mk6 form. I actually prefer the Mk5 Golf if you're giving me a choice of stock cars.

I'll cut the grandfather story now, and proceed to the performance. It uses the EA888 2.0L engine, capable of producing 210PS and a massive 280Nm torque. Emission rated Euro 5 compliant, 170g/km as the engine only use only 7.3 liters (7.4L for the DSG) of fuel per 100km, compared to 8.0 liters on the Mk5 GTI.

The Mk5 Golf GTI

0 to 100km/h takes just 6.9 seconds. A 240 km/h top speed with the manual transmission is achieved at top gear at 5,900rpm. With the 6-speed twin clutch DSG, the top speed is 238km/h at top gear with the rev needle pointing to 5,920rpm.

The interior

Dunno what are those? Nevermind. You won't be able to buy it anyway partly because it hasn't arrive to our shore and partly because you wouldn't use north of RM200K for a hatchback since you'll buy those long and wide reconditioned sedans from Bundesrepublik Deutschland.

Earth Hour 2009

I seems to have many random things to blog huh?

On March 28, at 8:30 pm local time, one billion people will go dark for Earth Hour. World Wildlife Fund is asking individuals, businesses, governments and organizations around the world to turn off their lights to make a global statement of concern about climate change and to demonstrate commitment to finding solutions.

Already hundreds of icons and landmarks around the world have signed up to turn their lights off for Earth Hour 2009 including - the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Sydney Opera House, Acropolis and Parthenon in Athens and The London Eye, among many others.

Random 6

Facebook is bitching the whole day. Loads so sloooooooooooooooooooooooowwwwww.

Streamyx is also bitching, for 3 times!

Crap!

I took about 40 minutes to boost everyone. Another 20 minutes to reload the damn Farm Town app. Others? Don't mention. That's not all. My internet connection has been playing with me since Tuesday night. Suddenly disconnected without reason, DHL blinking, can't reconnect no matter what I tried. Gave up. It reconnects the next morning, then before I go to college, the damn thing happened again. Came back, still in dire condition. It reconnects again late in the evening, and disconnected after about 2 hours. My dad's screaming (not really, just mumbling) since he can't use the internet. Oh, it reconnects again. Okay, I lost count. How many times was it? Nevermind.

Tired

I felt sleepy and tired right now despite the fact that I took an 8 hours sleep plus an hour in the evening before. I'm tired from the usual commuting, the tendering for the puppies as they now walk around the house, the clicking for numerous facebook applications and et cetera.

Tsukareta~!!!

Mac-tard 1

You are wondering why I put number behind titles for a while now? It's because I will make another entry similarly, in other words, I'm lazy to think of different title.

Today I had a chat with fellow blogger Evan about iPod and iPhone 3G. Maxis Malaysia will be releasing the iPhone 3G on March 20th, with the package of RM375 monthly installments for 24-months. Well, they do say that the price starts from RM100 per month. Worth it? Not for me. I'm not really an Apple Inc. fan anyway.

Welcome to Malaysia 1

This will be the beginning of my "Welcome to Malaysia" series where I will blog about the common concepts of Malaysia (duh!).

Runners.

This evening I went to Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ-Road Transport Department) at Wangsa Maju to accompany my friend to renew his driving license. At the entrance of the office, there were many "runners" whom waited for unsuspecting customers or newbies to run their errand for them.

Past group photographs.

Despite claiming myself as a lazy blogger, I do blog few times a week lately. Well, unless you point that my entries were not blog-approved.

These are the photos that I've been waiting for months. Until the fact that I no longer wished to blog about the events that occurred on those particular days.

So, I'll just post the group photos for you all to see and take, if you do not have them yet. IM me if you want the others. Or maybe I'll post them sometime soon. Hmm...

Random 5

Suddenly wanna post something as some reference for somebody.

To kayaball,

Introducing Hwang Mi Hee with bob-hairstyle! She was once my favourite Korean model, until her place was taken by Kim Ha Yul.

Well, she don't normally go for photoshoot with short hair. These are the only series I can find her in short hair. Otherwise, it's back to her usual long sensational hair.

For more Hwang Mi Hee, checkout this website: Hwang Mi Hee Fan

Guess which one is her?

Guys, don't say I didn't warn you; Do not open the above links in your office. You don't wanna let your boss saw you holding a bunch of tissues isn't it?

To bunny,

Quoting your sentence "Pork. Pork. Pork. 7-11. 7-11. 7-11. Dame.", it remembers me of those words came out from the mouth of TopGear famous host, Jeremy Clarkson.

After the news of a truck driver accidentally killing a few prostitutes on the road, he made a statement on the daily routine of a truck driver.

"Change gear, change gear, check mirror, murder a prostitute, change gear, change gear, murder. That's a lot of effort in a day," he said.

About the Corolla, you can't really complain much. Because Thailand has the largest market in South East Asia, and also being the country in SEA to provide manufacturing facilities, many car manufacturers stationed their factories in Thailand with Toyota being the biggest 1. Thus, it's only natural for them to use the Corolla as taxi as part of a certain agreement and also because they were cheap there.

7-11? I think we have an outlet somewhere in Malaysia that was built bigger than Berjaya Times Square's Starbucks with lots of Japanese words.

Shootout 1

Felt good yesterday so it's time for some simple shooting.
